Character Sketches

I've been doing a number of random original character sketches lately. 

New year, new goals, new art!

Concept art and a test illustration for the short comic idea I'm going to be using to break myself into a proper work schedule for my art-related projects. I've been making enough jokes about art being my part-time job (on top of the full-time job I've got. Eugh, retail), that its really high time I actually worked with that. I'm going to be trying to set aside at least a few hours a day to focus on my art (with occasional days off, but only when my arm requires it). I'm going to start actually tracking the time spent, too. I want to for 20 hrs/week which should be totally doable, and allow me to make visible progress each week.

Also I am so so sorry for the total update blackout this last year. New relationship, new job, expanding of hobbies, more demands on my time. I think I've just about got a handle on things now though, and I'm going to really try to amp up my overall web presence on top of everything else. Two character sketches I've done over the last couple days. Getting back into online RPs is good for something at least, lol.

October Updates

Getting better at my basic cell-shaded animation/comic style. Yes, the alignment in the text bubbles is awful, my fault for not bothering to fix it.

Working on getting a "big girl job", hopefully once I have a real job I'll be able to focus better on my art projects and update this more regularly (and yes I am working on getting a real web site finished, my lovely web developer friend is pretty swamped though).

New Self Portrait

Whoops, and there's another 4 month gap in updates. I've actually been kind of busy this time though! I went to Days of the Dead in Indianapolis which was tons of fun! I made new friends who gave me all sorts of wonderful ideas and really boosted my motivation to work on some of my projects (and doubled the amount of tattoos I plan on getting, whee XD). Right now I'm mostly working on getting some updated stuff posted, making some marker pieces and ACEOs to have on hand for Cyphan at the end of this month, sculpting my own lotus-shaped button/candy and business card holder, and getting to work on a themed art book that I'm hoping will be ready for print and sale in time for MFF in November. I'll post some excerpts from that as it comes together :3

I also will hopefully have a proper portfolio site up within the next few months, depending on my friend's workload. So someday in the not-too-distant future lotus-art.net will actually be its own site, instead of redirecting to this blog.

Improvement shot! Not bad for 2 years' difference.










This is a piece I drew as a gift. Quake in fear - furries are everywhere! Haha, I think anthropomorphic characters are a fun challenge, I really have no issue with drawing them.













And I really, really honestly am working on a proper portfolio site! Eventually lotus-art.net will be its own thing, instead of jumping to this blog. I'll still keep the blog for in-progress shots and updates and such, with lotus-art.net being my proper portfolio/business site.

Art Nouveau Monsters - Medusa Complete

Definitely happy with how this turned out! There's still a couple spots that bother me (I had to give up fighting her thumb, was taking too much time), but overall I really love this piece. I definitely want to make prints of this available for purchase.
